The Matthew Markham Killen Memorial Fund presented its annual scholarship ($4,000) to Wood-Ridge High School graduate Massimo Spina for his excellence in computer science/engineering. Massimo was selected among a competitive landscape of well qualified candidates. We wish him success in his future academic journey.

In its 10 years, the fund  – named after 2005 WRHS graduate Matthew Killen, an aspiring doctor who died at the age of 25 – has awarded 12 scholarships totaling $28,000.  From left to right – Mike Smith, Paul Rance, Massimo Spina, Mr.Killen, Carolyn Eades.

Previous Winners of the Award:

The Matthew Markham Killen Memorial Fund presented its annual scholarship to Wood-Ridge High School graduate Brina Trivedi for her excellence in science, engineering and math.

This year’s ceremony was the first time in our foundation’s history that we presented two recipients a scholarship award. Emily Gardella and Samantha Eckert were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship to further their education.

Both applicants were extremely deserving, hard working and admirable students.

Emily Gardella plans to attend Villanova University to pursue a degree in Biology.

Samantha Eckert plans to attend Stevenson University to pursue a degree in cybersecurity and digital forensics.

The future is bright with well rounded young adults such as Emily and Samantha. We wish you the best on your next endeavor
